just for fun... cloud city

handcarded rolags

Anxious, last nite I handcarded the first month's fiber club shipment from Black Bunny Fibers (90 delaine merino/10 kid mohair) into this GIANT pyramid of rolags*. There's only 8 oz of fiber, and it takes up so much more space than when it did as a roving...

(Handcards? I bought a fleece. A little one!)

Off to have a good day, you do the same :)

*the rolags are rolled widthwise, easier to throw in the paper grocery bags. i'll open them up and roll lengthwise like the one in the front of the pic when i get going...

You have long Rolags. I read in Shannon Oakey's book that you can spin them like that, but my Mom showed me the other way. (I'm still very much a beginner with a drop spindle.)

I have both those wheels as well. When My Schacht came along I went crazy with spinning for quite a while. My poor little Joy is starting to get a little dusty;)
