but, i'm not a garment knitter!

IMG_8185
35 skeins of Malabrigo
(tortuga, frost grey and red mahogany in bags; chestnut and black chunky loose)

I think the grey'll be knit into grandma's Christmas afghan... but the rest?! (Pattern suggestions, anyone?) Judging from his expression, my son's sure it'll just be more fiber chaff hidden in the recesses of his closet :)

Off to knit a Koolhaas hat... you know, journey of a thousand miles and all that jazz.

  1. Wow!! Lucky you to have three bags full!
I'd suggest a Tree Jacket or a 28thirty both are from Zephyr Style.

  4. While I'm jealous of the yarn, you super cute son never fails to get me. He will be a heartthrob when he grows up -- already is.

  5. My Pimlico Shrug took just a hair over 7 skeins (including swatch. I wouldn't have needed the 8th if I undid my swatch.)
    and I absolutely love it!

  6. He's got quite the serious look on his face! Too cute! :)

I don't knit a lot of garments, either. (Even though I have one on the needles now for the store, plus another one started over a year ago, plus yarn to make five more!) I have lots of patterns I'd like to make, but they take so long. I like socks and small stuff.

  9. Wow all that luscious yarn! Can I come over and just roll in it? Or at least just pet it?

Hmmm....there are so many patterns that would be beautiful in that yarn. Drops jacket? Arwen cardigan? Too many to choose from.....eeek!

  11. maybe a stella hat?

you're lucky to find it so easily...around here finding three colors isn't so easy and usually it's the high end store that carries it (in two colors) and for 13$ a skein.

    ugh. :/

  21. I think you should sell ME the red and then thats that problem solved ;)

I would look at Zephyr style, they have a few new cardi type tops that look nice and I think one is knit using a worsted/aran weight held double

  22. He looks a little puzzled. :) There's a Malabrigo Junkies group on Ravelry and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to suggest ideas for your lovely Malabrigo stash.

  23. Your son looks like he is more worried that the yarn may take over his whole room or the house. Love the picture and the look on his face!
